As the World Cup begins…

It’s time to score a goal for Palestine!
Israel has violated FIFA principles in a multitude of ways that would normally warrant disciplinary actions and even suspension of its membership. However, FIFA has refused to take this action. Its internal by-laws have even been amended to make it more difficult for the Palestine Football Association (PFA) to demand accountability. Consequently, it is now the responsibility of civil society to apply the popular pressure necessary to bring this about.

Defend Palestinian Children
Around the world, children will follow the World Cup from their homes. However, Palestinian children are routinely denied the right to play or even the right to live freely.
There are more than 300 Palestinian children in Israeli occupation prisons right now, and every year, almost 700 kids are brought before occupation military courts.
This year, as you watch the World Cup, it’s time to take a stand for these Palestinian children. Kids like Walid Khaled Abdullah Ahmad. Israel arrested him from Silwad in the occupied West Bank when he was 16. He was starved to death in an Israeli occupation prison at just 17-years-old. He was the highest scorer on his football team and was preparing to join the Palestinian national team. According to Defence for Children International – Palestine, Walid was the first Palestinian child to ever die inside Israeli prisons.
